**Can I answer questions about the content and devices used in a poem?
The Day the Dragons Won the Lottery
they got staggery, swiggery, blotto-ry,
ziggery-zaggery, teetery, tottery,
proudly swaggery,
draggery flaggery,
loudly braggery. Rich or what-ery?
When the dragonry won the lottery.
Oops! A snaggery...Oh no nottery!
Just a tenner is all they gottery.
What a calamity! Sniffery snottery.
This is most certainly not what it ought to be.
Cursery, slaggery, weepery, watery.
Utterly agony. Heckery! Rottery!
When the dragonry won the lottery.

A day in fall.
And why make it this way?
Why am I me, not like him or her?
Why this particular part of the play?
Or why not be a leaf swirling in the wind.
Like this leaf:
The one that the fresh autumn wind blew,
The one that I fled to catch,
That I studied its wrinkled texture,
it’s veins that make out a complicated maze.
The one’s scarlet color that warmed me up
from the crisp autumn breeze.
The one that I clutched to my heart,
out of my hand fall red crispy pieces.
I’m not sure how to live.
Does anybody know?
I've been singing and playing,
dancing with the multicolored leaves.
Was I doing the right thing?
Was I doing the right thing?
Why aren't there instructions
through this puzzling maze.
Do we just wither away like the leaf?
Does everything end so soon?
All I know is minutes is precious money
and we must spend them wisely.
Tell me, how are you going to spend yours? I was board so I just did this poem :P

Electricity-By David
Electricity, use it, charge an iPad, run a computer,
Boil some water,
Have some internet,
Use it to turn on the lights.
Use it to toast some bread
Run a microwave, oven and many more,
turn on a fan,
all this is achieved with electricity
Electricity, a miraculous power.
With it, you can run many things.
Just don’t touch it, you just might get shocked.
Even though it is a great power,
it can also be very harmful.
Conserve it,
waste it,
it’s your choice!
And remember, just don’t be near it
when you are playing with water!!
My Fingers Poem!!!!
Fingers
Type with your fingers. Write with them. Wave. Wiggle them quickly.
Tap a screen, drag a picture.
Can you count them?
Create a story. A movie. A comic.
Draw a face and create friends!
But that’s not all, snap, clap, play.
What will you use your fingers for today?
Make sure to be careful!

Dressing for school By: Mackenzie
I must have been too sleepy
getting dressed for school today.
I tried to tuck my shirt in,
but I couldn't make it stay.
I also couldn't tie my shoes.
I fumbled with the laces.
I snagged my scarf, and now some yarn
is dangling from my braces.
My socks are different colors,
and my pants are inside out.
My sweater from the hamper left me
smelling like a trout.
I thought I put a hat on
to control my crazy hair.
The hat turned out to be a pair
of purple underwear.
I decided to wear my new pants
but they were 2 sizes too small.
The second pair I picked out
didn't match my shirt at all.
I spilled my breakfast on my clothes
and headed into school.
My friends, of course, were all impressed.
I’d never looked so cool.
Getting Dress for School by Katherine
Here is a stanza I made up to go before that last stanza:
I crammed my books
right into my bookbag.
But sadly I failed to notice
that they were my mom's
fitness magazines!

Eileen's Senses Poem: Pizza
I like to look at
The hot pizza’s cooking in the oven
Just waiting to leap into my mouth.
I love to smell
The fresh cheese melting over the edges of
The bread like an overflowing bathtub.
I enjoy listening to
The pepperonis sizzling on the hot pizza
like circles of fire melting away on a oval of water.
I like to touch
the warm crusts that are not as hot as
the flaming hot body of the pizza.
I get very happy when I taste
the nice, warm slice fresh from the oven
like a thin slice of pie.
I like to dream of
living on Pizza Planet and eating nothing
but pizza for the rest of my life.Monday, 26 May 2014
The Summer Day
Mary Oliver
Who made the world?Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
What images and thoughts come to mind when you read the above poem? I really like the last two lines.
Create your own poem following this pattern. The only stipulation is that you must choose a season to base your poem on. Start with the same beginning sentence and a meaningful question for your final sentence.
ARG! BLOGGER HATES ME!!!! ~Mackenzie
D': First, blogger messes up my poem. Then, blogger won't allow my picture to show!!!! CURSE YOU, BLOGGER (Shakes imaginary fist menacingly)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here it is (if it shows up):
Senses- War Prisoners! :D or more like D': By: Mookenzie!!!!!
Sorry for the oddness of this not-so poem. I know it is sort of gruesome.
---------------------------------
War prisoners
By: Guess who? Mackenzie!
I look, horrified, at the broken bodies around me,
limbs splayed at impossible angles
as they lay motionless on the floor.
I listen for footsteps as I pick up
moaning and pleas for the torture to stop,
and voices begging for death, as to leave what’s left of this world.
I touch the walls around me,
desperate for a chance of escape,
though it would be worthless to try, as they would hunt me down.
I smell death, poison, the moist, moldy
smell of the dirt floor and old bars,
rusty from the tears of the captives trapped there.
I taste my own sweat,
and the blood that had dribbled from the wound on my head
and into my panting mouth.
I often dream of the time when the war will stop,
And I will be free to live my life freely
once again.
--------------------------------------------
Isn’t that a happy thought? (No.)
Your welcome for ruining your day!
~Mackenzie
Computers by Aidan
I-phones, Laptops, Gaming PCs,
I open up the case, let me start it up please,
the screen lights up, with its bright L.E.Ds,
so now I can search up some pictures of cheese.
Blog, Glogs, Minecraft, the internet is where it is at,
Youtube videos, Steam, and Internet Chat,
I can search up anything, hey look, a video of a fat cat (his name's Boo!)
Type on the keyboard, as it goes Clickity-Clack, there should be no boundaries,
I can't exactly thank my parents for that!
Scroll the mouse wheel, start up a game of chess,
there are so many things to do, like design a website,
make funny photoshop pictures, buy some new products,
delivered at your door, computers are everywhere today,
in your soda machines, medicines, and factories.
The technology revolution has just begun, we already have androids,
they could probably ruin the fun (ever heard of the Terminator!)
Let's just hope in the years to come, that we won't have to run for are life,
since who knows what will computers will do tomorrow.
I'm fluent in Java coding,
<Java.Input: Say: It's really fun!.repeat(4).endscript>
Programmers really need it, or they would be out on the street,
the internet could spread the news about stars, like Merryl Streep.
Over 10,000,000 websites are added everyday,
half of them are knockoffs, of fun games to play.
Since where crunching numbers, and I'm running out of time,
I will finish it with one more fact, how many sites exist today:
OVER 13,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!!! Yeah, I know, pretty Insane!

My hands are another story,
for my nails weren't just pink,
or just green and blue.
But a special type that made them stink!

Time - By Amanda
Killing time. Wasting time. Spending time.
Some people don’t have much time, others have more than they know what to do with.
Reading books, watching movies, playing catch and ways to spend time...
but the best way to spend time is with family or friends.
Wasting time on something unimportant
when your homework is sitting in your backpack unfinished.
Killing time as you wait
for something more exciting to happen.
Sitting in class watching the clock tick
waiting ever so patiently for the thundering ring
of the school bell.
Alarm clocks wake you up in the morning
with a loud beep, and then you waste more time
trying to fall back asleep.
There are lots of things to do with your time.
But always remember...
Minutes are like money, so spend them wisely.
(The last line was from a fortune cookie! :P)

So instead of mixed fractions,
I’m turning in something about colours
I spilled my breakfast on my clothes
and headed into school.
My friends, of course, were all impressed.

We were kicking and punching hard.
I ended up getting a black eye,
we should have just played cards.
I spilled my breakfast on my clothes
and headed into school.

Among the Trees by Katherine
I like to watch as
people stroll around,
not even noticing me.
I like to listen to
the swaying of nature,
rustling in the breeze.
I like to feel
the textured bark
under my feet,
supporting me.
I like to smell
the tiny blossoms,
their fragrance
penetrating my nostrils.
I like to taste
the sweet pure air,
that has traveled
all around the Earth.
I like to dream
of flying up so high,
through the puffy clouds.
I like to watch as
people stroll around,
not even noticing me.

PS: I didn't even realize that Andra was doing a poem similar to this! We may have some concepts that seem alike, but I didn't see her poem before or while I was writing this!
